Cottage Food Statement

overview

Owen’s Honey Hive operates under Mississippi’s Cottage Food Law, producing small‑batch honey and honey‑based goods in our home kitchen on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We are committed to transparency, safety, and clear communication so our customers always know exactly how their food is made.

What Cottage Food Means

Under Mississippi cottage‑food regulations, certain low‑risk foods—such as honey—may be prepared in a private home kitchen and sold directly to consumers. These products are not inspected by the Mississippi State Department of Health.

Our honey is crafted with care, intention, and respect for our bees, but it is important for customers to understand the regulatory framework under which we operate.

Required Cottage Food Disclosure

This product is made in a home kitchen and is not inspected by the Mississippi State Department of Health. This statement applies to all honey and honey‑based products sold by Owen’s Honey Hive.

Shipping & Distribution Limitations

Because we operate under cottage‑food regulations:

  • We cannot ship products.

  • We cannot deliver across state lines.

  • All sales must be direct to the consumer.

  • All orders are local pick‑up only.

These rules help ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of our small‑batch production.

Labeling & Transparency

Every product label from Owen’s Honey Hive includes:

  • Product name

  • Net weight

  • Ingredient list (when applicable)

  • Our business name and location

  • The required cottage‑food statement

We believe in clear, honest labeling so you always know what you’re bringing home.

Our Commitment to Quality

While cottage‑food products are not state‑inspected, we follow high standards of cleanliness, safe handling, and responsible stewardship. Our bees, our kitchen, and our process are cared for with intention and respect.

If you ever have questions about our honey, our process, or our policies, we’re always happy to help.

Thank You

Your support allows us to continue caring for our bees and sharing the small‑batch honey we love. We’re grateful you’re here.
